Charles advertises catering role

The heir to the throne’s annual review last week revealed that he employed “4.8” chefs and kitchen porters.

Now he wants a chef de partie who will provide staff meals “to the highest s t a n d a rd” and support the head chef with events catering.

Mainly based in London, the adver t says the successful applicant will have to travel to other UK residences “a s required”.

The prince is a frequent visitor to his home at Birkhall on the Balmoral Estate as well as Dumfries House in Ayrshire.

He also spends a week at the Castle of Mey in Caithness every August and also resides at the Palace of Holyroodho­use in Edinburgh. The prince is a longstandi­ng advocate of organic farming.

It is not clear from the advert if the new chef is replacing an existing member of staff or is an addition.

“The successful candidate will plan and prepare meals for London- based and travelling staff, operating from other UK residences as required,” says the job advert on the Clarence House website.

“They will assist with the planning and preparatio­n of meals for events, formal dinners, canapé receptions and functions, and liaise with the head chef on menus and budgets.

In her acceptance speech on Wednesday, Lennox said: ” To say that I’m honoured and amazed by this exceptiona­l recognitio­n is a genuine understate­ment.

“Many of my life experience­s can be described as unconventi­onal, idiosyncra­tic and synchronis­tic – as this event proves to be no exception.

“By rights, I feel I’m not entitled to be here – but as John Lennon once famously said, ‘Life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans’.”

Jonathan FreemanAtt­wood, Principal of the Royal Academy, said Lennox had used her voice to “create positive change”.
