THESE figures indicate the increasing impact obesity is having on emergency services.

Scotland faces a significant challenge with high levels of obesity.

We currently live in an environment that promotes weight gain through inactivity and overconsumption of processed foods high in fat, sugar and salt.

As an immediate priority, we must improve the diet of the Scottish population.

The Scottish Government are due to publish a diet and obesity strategy this year and we urge them to include bold and ambitious action to change the food environment by tackling price promotions, restricting advertising and sponsorship and reducing portion size of unhealthy foods.
