Chris Hanson in coversation with his caddie yesterday. badly off line, so I didn’t really get into any trouble. I felt like I left a couple out there on the back nine but in general it was a pretty flawless round.

“The swing has been good the last few weeks. I’d run into a little bit of form starting in Ireland and, obviousl, y that top- 10 in Scotland gave me a bit of confidence and I kind of knew I was nearly there.

“So in the four weeks off, although there has been a lot of things going on at home, I managed to get a lot of practice in and sharpen things up.”

Slattery admitted he benefited from completing his second round on Friday while some players had to play 36 holes on Saturday, adding: “I think it was very important to have a long rest and get out there today.

“You could tell towards the end the guys who I was playing with today, Morrison and Hanson, they looked tired.

“They’ve had a long day and they made some mistakes towards the end which sort of opened that lead up a little bit.”

AMERICAN Clark Dennis fired the lowest round at the Travis Perkins Masters since 2012, a seven-under-par 65, to take a threeshot lead into today’s final round atWoburn.

The Texan, who earned his European Senior Tour card at Qualifying School in February, started the day on level par, but quickly made a move as he birdied the first and fifth holes to make the turn at two-under.

Gains on the 11th and 12th holes were followed by birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, before making his seventh of the day on the 17th.

Dennis is three shots ahead of Ireland’s Brendan McGovern, who won this year’s Qualifying School at Pestana Golf Resort.
