Did Father Jack, of Father Ted fame, ever release a Christmas single? – C.

Not quite, but Frank Kelly, who portrayed Father Jack Hackett did.

He released a single, Christmas Countdown, a comedy monologue based on The Twelve Days of Christmas in 1982.

It reached No. 26 in the charts, but not until 1984, when he appeared on Top Of The Pops to perform the song.

Frank, a kind man, could hardly have been more different to the foulmouthed Father Jack.

As it’s Christmas, I’ll probably be on my third tube by now – so I would like to know who invented Pringles? – T.

That was American chemist Frank Baur in the mid-50s.

Not only did he create the distinctive saddle-shaped crisp from fried dough, he came up with the can to go with it.

The were originally marketed as Pringle’s Newfangled Potato Chips.

I was saddened to hear Heather North, the actress who voiced Daphne in Scooby-Doo, died this week. Who supplied the other voices? – N.

Heather took over the role of Daphne from Indira Christopherson in the second series.

The original voice actors were Don Messick as Scooby-Doo, Casey Kasem as Shaggy, Frank Welker as Fred, Nicole Jaffe as Velma, and Indira as Daphne.

Heather was the voice of Daphne from 1970-2003.

I see Australia have won the Ashes again.

The little urn they and England compete for is tiny, so surely it is the smallest trophy in the world of sport? – P.

The Ashes urn is 11cm high – but that absolutely dwarfs the smallest sports trophy.

The Lyonnese Cup is a football trophy which the Isles of Scilly and Penzance-based Dynamo Choughs compete for each year.

It is only 6mm tall.
