Trainwreck Channel 5, 9pm, Sunday

An unlikely romance develops when magazine journalist Amy Townsend (Amy Schumer) interviews sports doctor Aaron Conners (Bill Hader).

Trainwreck is laced with sufficient biting wit and self-effacement to drink The Hangover and its crude imitators under the table – and seal victory with a rousing belch.

Morning Glory Film4, 6.55pm, Monday

TV producer Becky Fuller (Rachel Mcadams) and prize-winning journalist Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford) attempt to revive ailing breakfast show, Daybreak.

It’s a frothy comedy laden with polished one-liners, distinguished by a scenery-chewing performance from Ford as the veteran news man.

2012 Sony Movie Channel, 9pm, Monday

A scientist predicts that the world is about to face a global cataclysm.

The movie’s biggest attraction is the chance to see the world coming to an end, and the special effects do not disappoint. Actors John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor manage to stand out amid the lavish CGI.

Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant make a delightful pairing in Stanley Donen’s enjoyable romantic thriller, which mixes stylish Hitchcock-esque intrigue with screwball comedy touches.

Big Eyes

Film4, 9pm, Wednesday

Biopic of artist Margaret Keane, who famously took her husband to court in 1986 to prove he was a fraud.
