Football fans’ support means the world to murdered soldier’s mum

-

It’s good to read a positive story about football supporters for a change, with the news that Rangers fans have been supporting bereaved mum Lyn Rigby.

Lyn’s soldier son Lee was just 25 when he was murdered by terrorists in London five years ago.

His mother has never really recovered from the shock of his brutal killing.

I interviewed her recently and could see how much she still mourned her boy.

She has, however, been comforted by the help Rangers fans have given to the foundation set up in Lee’s name.

Supporters raised more than £20,000 and also founded the Lee Rigby Memorial Cup. A team of Rangers legends will compete for the trophy against a Portsmouth select side on Easter Sunday.

It means the world to Lyn for her son’s name to live on in this way, and for his memory to be honoured.

All the players and fans involved should take a bow.

They are doing a really good thing.
