In the North Super League, INVERNESS CITY remain second bottom after losing 4-1 at league leaders BANKS O’ DEE. The home side’s scorers were Jamie Buglass, Jack Henderson and a double from Jamie Watt.

BURGHEAD THISTLE extended their lead over BUCKIE ROVERS to five points in the First Division West with a 2-0 win over them at Forest Park, thanks to an Andrew Stewart strike and an own goal.

In Group 1 of the Elginshire Cup, DEVERONSID­E enjoyed a convincing 4-0 derby win over local rivals WHITEHILLS at School Park. John Mcleay grabbed a double for Side, and there were singles from Ross Thomson and Joel Watt.

NAIRN SAINT NINIAN are eight points clear in Group 2 after they won 5-2 at home to FORRES THISTLE. Lee Haines and Colin Mason scored in the opening 10 minutes and further goals from Jason Duncan and Brett Mitchell made it four at the break. Stewart Allan rounded off the scoring after Forres replied through Matty Fraser and Craig Robertson.

ISLAVALE struck late to earn a point at home to NEW ELGIN. Daniel Cormack netted with five minutes remaining after Dean Stewart gave the visitors a half-time lead.

DUFFTOWN crashed out of the GA Engineerin­g Cup at the third round stage, conceding six against DUNDEE NORTH END in Moray. Moray Taylor scored the home side’s consolatio­n, who also had Finlay Stables sent off.

LOCHEE UNITED made it through to the semi-final stage of the Scottish Junior Cup after coming from behind to defeat BEITH 4-1 at Bellsdale Park, with Connor Birse grabbing a hat-trick. Connor Mcglinchey slotted a penalty away form hosts early on, but Birse pulled his side level with 12 minutes played. Grant Lawson gave Lochee the lead eight minutes into the second half, with Birse finding the new twice more to have the tie won before Beith missed a late penalty.

WISHAW will meet Kirkintill­och Rob Roy in the only outstandin­g quarter-final tie next weekend after seeing off hosts YOKER 3-1 in the fifth round. A penalty from goalkeeper Sandy Thomson had Wishaw winning at the break, with James Coffey and Ryan Smith adding to that lead before Greg Maitland grabbed Yoker’s consolatio­n.

Cup favourites AUCHILECK TALBOT visited CARNOUSTIE PANMURE and two first-half goals from William Lyle and Graham Wilson proved good enough to give victory at Laing Park.

BO’NESS and HURLFORD will replay after sharing four goals. Glen Mitchell gave Hurlford the lead on the halfhour, but they were down to 10 men when Danny Mitchell was sent off shortly after. Scott Gibb levelled, but the 10 men edged ahead again before Calum Scott earned Bo’ness a replay with an equaliser.

In the East Super League, PENICUIK held on to top position with a 2-1 win over BROUGHTY ATHLETIC. Sean Jamieson gave Penicuik the lead in 29 minutes, but the Fed’s Derryn Kesson levelled in 51 minutes. The visitors’ joy was short-lived, howeve, as Aaron Sommervill­e volleyed in a winner five minutes later.

Goals from Jordan Herron and Alan Docherty in the first 15 minutes put CAMELON in control over JEANFIELD SWIFTS. The Perth side gave themselves a lifeline when they pulled one back through a Tony Holt penalty, but Alan Sneddon scored a brace for the Mariners to complete a comfortabl­e victory.

LINLITHGOW ROSE were 2-1 winners over HILL OF BEATH HAWTHORN. Rose took the lead through Blair Batchelor in nine minutes, but the Haws hit back with a D Wright equaliser in 76 minutes. But their joy was short-lived as Roddy Maclennan netted a winner for Rose three minutes later.
