OVERLOOKING the pier at Plockton, B-listed Tigh-an-fhaing sits in one of the world’s most breathtaking locations.
Once one of Scotland’s west coast herring ports, this enchanting village on the palm-lined shores of Loch Carron is now a haven for artists, nature lovers, sailors and kayakers.
And so spectacular is the spot, that it’s been featured on screen – most famously in the 1973 film The Wicker Man starring Edward Woodward and Britt Ekland, and as the setting for the popular TV series Hamish Macbeth. Little wonder then that this handsome five-bedroom house captured the heart of Teresa Peach, who first laid eyes on it nearly 50 years ago. She tells in10: “I had admired Tigh-an-fhaing over several years from when I first visited Plockton on holiday.
“My first impressions were that it was both elegant and homely, in a great location with, probably, the best views in Plockton.”
She was thrilled when it came on to the market, successfully purchasing the property in 1976. Teresa tells in10: “We had no real structural work to do to it, but we did build an extension, providing an additional light sunny place to sit. It has stunning views towards Stromeferry.
“The sunrises are amazingly colourful and during the summer it is wonderful to watch all the yachts coming into the harbour – no-one can pass by without being spotted!” And the house even afforded her an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the cast and crew of
