DRUMMOND CASTLE GARDENS

-

The castle itself isn’t open to the public. It doesn’t need to be – its surrounding gardens are still worth a visit in themselves.

The castle grounds are lush and lovely. In spring and summer, there’s so much colour and prettiness, it can’t help but lift your mood. Even an autumn visit is a riot of russet and gold.

Even the approach to the gardens, up through a long lane of beech trees, is beautiful.

Water features heavily in the gardens. There are bridges over rivers and babbling brooks.

The formal gardens are stunning, but we enjoyed the greenhouses and vegetable gardens, too.

If you fancy more of a trek, go for the woodland walk, where you’ll find wooden statues carved from fallen trees. It takes about 20 minutes and is great for children.

It’s the perfect spot for a picnic. There’s no cafe, so pack your own treats, pick a spot and relax in the gorgeous surroundings.

Or head into Crieff for one of its cafes, pubs or restaurants. If you love steak and ale pie, you’ll love what’s on offer at The Tower Gastro Pub.

It’s got a decent children’s menu, too and its puddings are a must if you want to spoil yourself.
