New research has revealed one in five parents say their kids believe they have a favourite child. We asked our Email Jury if they ever experienced sibling rivalry

You always have one you care for more – sometimes it is because they are vulnerable or need more love than the rest. Carol Whitehead, Prestwich I was an only child – an “only lonely” – but I had four female cousins who were sisters, and they fought over things like clothes that were borrowed…without asking. Elizabeth O’regan, Lincoln From what I have seen over the years, the last born is always the baby. The youngest is always favoured and can do no wrong.

Bob Mitchell, Elderslie It’s possible to not have a favourite. Each child is different and brings joy and pleasure in different ways. I do think you remember more about your first

outgoing personality than I have and he was able to get away with much more than I ever was. Liz

Kelly, Glasgow I was the favourite with my paternal grandparents but I think my parents treated us equally. Ian

Roxburgh, Kilmaurs

I am the youngest of three but

FORM TO BECOME PART OF THE TEAM certainly was never the favourite. Showing favouritism is very cruel, as I know. Because of this I tried never to favour one of my three sons – they are all equal in my eyes. Lorraine Anderson, Edinburgh We have two boys and we try to be the same to both of them. – but I think there is a favourite. Which one? It’s a big secret!
