Jack Ross has nothing but praise for the loud away backing supplied by St Mirren’s boisterous Buddies’ support.

But the Paisley manager is warning the champions-elect they must prepare to deal with the lift the travelling army is giving the opposition in the title run-in.

The visiting support topped 700 at the Caledonian Stadium, where Saints’ handsome 2-0 lead was dramatically clawed back by Caley Thistle’s late resurgence.

Ross, while seeing his team’s title lead trimmed from 14 to 12 points, looked on it as a point gained.

He said: “We’re getting there – it’s not easy to win leagues.

“But today, rather than our lead being cut, it is more about gaining another point towards the total which means we can’t be caught.

“With the great crowd we bring and the atmosphere they create, I know myself as a player the opposition thrive off that as well.

“That’s something we’ll have to deal with between now and the end of the season.” St Mirren stamped an early authority on the match.insidefour minutes, a Stephen Mcginn ball curled over the top found Coll Donaldson clearly tugging down Mullen in the box. Harry Davis hammered home the penalty kick.

They were awarded a second spot kick when Carl Tremarco was adjudged to have bumped over Davis .

This time, though, Ridgers made a tremendous save with his legs from Davis’ second spot kick.

Ridgers’ tremendous performance continued, but after a foul by Charlie Trafford at the corner of the box, Lewis Morgan stepped up and swerved a fantastic dead ball high into the far corner of the net.

Gary Warren’s towering header, straight from a Polworth corner, made it game on again for the hosts pulling a goal back 12 minutes from time.

Then, remarkably, after a foul on Vigurs saw Stephen Mcginn booked, Polworth levelled with a stunning free-kick that evaded everyone from 25 yards out left.

Caley Thistle manager Robertson conceded a draw was fair, but blasted some of the decision-making.

He said: “There were a few questionable decision. We’re feeling a sense of injustice.”
