Former Ibrox owner and wife split after seven years

-

Sir David Murray has split from his wife Kae Tinto after seven years of marriage, citing “different interests going forward”. The former Rangers owner, 66, wed the ex-lawyer at a private ceremony at his Dunbarney estate in Perthshire in 2011. Announcing the break-up a spokesman for Sir David insisted the couple remained “firm friends”.

He said: “It is with deep regret and sadness that Sir David Murray and Kae Tinto Murray announce that they have separated.

“They recognise that they are at different stages of their lives and have different interests going forward.

“They will remain firm friends.

“They ask that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time. There will be no further statements given.”

Photographer Kae, 46, is a former showjumping champion who has twin daughters from a previous marriage. They agreed to marry during a trip to Sir David’s former home in Jersey in the Channel Islands in 2006.

Sir David sold Rangers to Craig Whyte for £1 in 2011 after owning the Ibrox club for 22 years. The metal and property magnate built a global empire and was worth almost £1 billion at the height of his success before the economic crash in 2007 saw hundreds of millions wiped from balance sheets. However Murray’s fortune was last June still estimated at £150 million.
