Devastated by double loss

-

Dear June

Both my wife and my mum passed away recently. Mum was 94 and had lived a full life.

My wife was diagnosed with a terminal illness and died fairly quickly at a relatively young age. I’m utterly devastated. I would dearly love to make contact with them and to know if they are happy and peaceful.

Jack, Glasgow.

The passing of two of your closest loved ones within such a short period is heartbreaking.

It will take some time to heal emotionally, as you are still in the early stages of your grief.

The loss of your mum at 94 would have been a very sad day as you were lucky enough to have her by your side throughout your life.

It will take time to adjust to her no longer being there.

We all understand and expect our parents to pass before us, but the loss of a mum at any age is life-changing.

I get the impression she was quite a character and even though she reached such a grand age, she retained her spark, interest and enthusiasm for life.

Your partner’s passing at such a young age would have also taken away the plans, dreams and hopes you both had for your future together. As I sit down and read your letter, I feel a huge sense of peace and calm.

Please know they are safely over and they will work as a team to surround you with all the love and support you need to see you through your grief.

Dear June

I met you after one of your shows and although you’d finished your work, you kindly spoke to me when I said I’d lost my dad, who had Alzheimer’s, last year.

My mum, brother and I absolutely adored him. He was the kindest man you could ever meet and we loved him with all our hearts.
