Stranraer shock 10-man Ayr with penalty winner

-

It was 2-0 before the break when Ryan Wallace broke into box and lashed an unstoppable shot past Ben Mackenzie.

In the second half, they made it 3-0 when Gavin Swankie’s cross into the box was finished off by Leighton Mcintosh.

East Fife were all over the shop and the Lichties took full advantage when Wallace’s corner was headed home by Colin Hamilton to increase their lead.

Things got even worse for the hosts when Chris Kane picked up a second booking on 75 minutes.

The Red Lichties made the numerical advantage count and Bobby Linn completed the scoring with a fifth.

Forfar athletic 0 alloa 1

Alloa took the lead after 14 minutes when Callum Crane curled a shot over keeper Marc Mccallum and into the top corner.

Forfar were awful in the first half and their solitary effort came from Matt Aitken right on the break when he whistled a 20-yard shot just past the post.

Dale Hilson hit a free-kick just over the cross bar a minute after the restart, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.

Jordan Kirkpatrick almost doubled Alloa’s lead with a neat clip that sailed inches over, then, moments, later he was denied again by the fingers of Mccallum, who tipped his fierce drive over.

In time added, Alloa’s Jamie Mccart was shown a straight red card for a kick on Dylan Easton after a tussle between the two as the ball was ushered out.

Alloa have all but secured their play-off place, with Forfar having reason to be cheerful as results elsewhere meant their own League 2 status was secured.

Rovers had the ball in the net after 21 minutes when Alan Trouten sent the ball past Rohan Ferguson, but was offside.

After 32 minutes, Airdrie broke the deadlock. Cammy Russell cut the ball back for Adam Brown, who drilled an unstoppable shot into the net beyond keeper Kieran Wright.

The introduction of former Diamond Conor Scullion provided the visitors with three real opportunities late on, while they also had an effort by Trouten that struck the post with an effort. However, in 88 minutes the Diamonds grabbed victory. Jake Hastie powered forward and into the box before sending the ball across the Rovers goal and substitute Tom Fry was on hand to send the ball into the net from six yards.
