Jurgen Klopp has no problem with Mo Salah going head-to-head with Harry Kane for the Golden Boot award – just as long as he remembers it’s a team game.

The Egyptian scored his 30th Premier League goal of the campaign and his 40th overall as Liverpool cruised to a comfortable victory over Bournemouth. He has now scored 18 League goals this season at Anfield, the most since Fernando Torres in 2007-08, and has hit 19 in his last 17 appearances in all competitions.

This one was an exquisite lobbed header in the second half, sandwiched between Sadio Mane’s early opener and Roberto Firmino’s last-minute third.

Klopp doesn’t believe that Salah has been distracted by the race to be top scorer in a week which saw Kane win an appeal against a goal originally given to a team-mate.

“Being top scorer is important and I’ve no problem with that,” said Klopp. “We need Mo to want to score. He wants us to be successful and if he gets the Golden Boot, we like that. As a striker, you need to make decisions. If you score everyone loves that. If you don’t, everyone asks questions. “It’sachallengeformoandtheother boys to stay cool and do the right thing in the right moment.

“He was very often in good situations and in the end scored one goal.

“Mo is impressive with the numbers, wow, but also the numbers we have scored as a team, around about 100, are really good, so carry on!” Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe couldn’t help but be impressed by Salah as an individual and Liverpool as a team.

“You won’t see a better goal than Salah’s this weekend,” said Howe.

“I think without a doubt that they can win the Champions League. They go into every game believing they can win.

“Liverpool have really improved and grown as a team. They’ve shown it in the Premier League and the Champions League and they’re a very tough team to play against.

“For us there is everything to play for. We can consider ourselves in a relegation battle until we are mathematically safe.”
