Hearts goalie Nicky Walker (above) was injured in the warm-up before his side’s game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie and was replaced by striker Ian Baird.

The stand-in performed well, but was unable to prevent his side losing 3-2.

Paul Ritchie and Billy Dodds were on target to give Dundee a 2-1 victory at Motherwell.

Mark Hughes and Eric Cantona scored, along with a Steve Clarke own-goal, as Manchester United beat Chelsea 3-0.

A goal from Peter Weir (above) was enough to give Aberdeen a 1-0 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. Rangers and St Mirren drew 1-1 in the other tie, played at Celtic Park. Sandy Clark put the Light Blues ahead, but a Craig Paterson own-goal earned the Buddies a replay. Manchester United beat Arsenal 2-1 in the FA Cup semi-final, the winner coming from 17-year-old Norman Whiteside.

Brighton defeated Sheffield Wednesday by the same score. Michael Robinson got the crucial goal.

Victories for Rangers and Celtic set up the first Old Firm Scottish Cup Final for 35 years. Celtic chairman Robert Kelly suggested both clubs should emphasise keeping the Final incident-free on the pitch to keep supporters calm.

Dunky Mckay scored twice as Celtic beat Raith Rovers 5-2. Rangers defeated Dundee United by the same scoreline, with Jimmy Millar (above) hitting a hat-trick. Ian St John got the goal that gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
