Go west for a brilliant break

-

When

you arrive in Ayrshire and Arran, you feel like you are hundreds of miles away from the nearest city because of its idyllic coastal location.

Whatever time of year you choose to visit this picturesque region of the west coast, you will not be disappointed. That’s because there is plenty to see and do, places to visit, and food to sample or, if you prefer, you could just chill out in your cosy hotel or B&B and enjoy long walks along the sandy shores of this historic county.

A magnet for tourists, Ayrshire and Arran is the perfect destination to escape to.

Known as “Burns Country”, Ayrshire has a rich history attached so you will be walking in the footsteps of our national Bard – or the Vikings! Here, there are many coastal towns to visit, each with cultural significance and scenic landscapes.

You may have visited this popular part of the country on a childhood summer holiday to Troon, Ayr or Girvan?

Or perhaps you have recently

with The Miller’s Kitchen and Saks & Hart Interiors

enjoyed a day trip to the area, experiencing the delights of Irvine, Largs or Prestwick?

So why not consider making a weekend of it and booking a couple of nights’ stay in Ayrshire? Ayrshire is also home to a number of award-winning restaurants – and a Michelin star restaurant!

Across the Firth of Clyde lies a relaxing haven – the Isle of Arran. Take the ferry across from Ardrossan and within an hour you will arrive in Brodick bay.

You can travel by car or as a foot passenger, but however you choose to go, as the ferry pulls out of Ardrossan Harbour you will feel your worries and stresses slip away.

While on the scenic Isle of Arran, the largest island in the Firth of Clyde which means “peaked island” in Gaelic, enjoy the great outdoors by climbing Goat Fell, going for long walks and looking out for wildlife – will you spot the Brodick bay seals? Affectionately known as “Scotland in miniature”, Arran is home to ancient monuments and a distillery, and if history is your passion, a visit to Brodick Castle and Lochranza Castle is a must.
