It

was moment that summed up a wedding which seamlessly merged tradition and modernity, royalty and Hollywood.

Prince Harry, dressed in a tuxedo and channelling James Bond, and his bride Meghan emerged from Windsor Castle to hop into an E-type Jaguar.

He was dressed in an impeccable tuxedo, she in a white Stella Mccartney gown.

For their journey to nearby Frogmore House, the venue for their evening reception, Harry chose to drive a British classic – a silver blue open-topped Jag.

But, again giving tradition a modern twist, the motor, the Concept Zero, has been converted by the company to run on electricity. The car’s number plate bore the date of the wedding – E190518. The pair drove off through the evening sunshine to their reception. Waving Meghan was wearing Princess Diana’s emerald cut aquamarine ring, while her gown featured a high neck and was made of silk crepe, teamed with Aquazurra shoes of silky satin, with soles painted in baby blue.

Her hair, styled by George Northwood, was in a relaxed up do, with loose strands tucked behind her ears amid the breeze. Meghan was expected to once again dispense with royal tradition by making a speech to the 200 invited guests at the evening reception.

Guests were said to be moved to tears as the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry gave speeches at the lunchtime reception in Windsor Castle.

Harry was applauded as he referred to Meghan as his wife, just a short time after the couple were wed in St George’s Chapel.

Wedding guest Suhani Jalota said: “Some people were even crying. I think it was just a very, really nice atmosphere to be in, where everybody felt really loved.”
