Nipped out to Arizona, just for a Swift one

-

FROM one megastar to another in the space of a couple of days.

I finished off last week chatting with the biggest actor in the world – both in terms of height and pay packet – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Can’t say what it’s about just yet but I’ll keep you in the loop as to what the Nicest Man In Showbiz is up to as soon as I’m allowed!

I then flew to Arizona to meet one of the world’s biggest music stars – the pop sensation Taylor Swift.

It was the first night of her Reputation Stadium tour and when I met her she was so excited.

Sadly, it wasn’t because she was meeting me – although as you can see from the pic above, the Queen of Pop did allow the King (that’s me, by the way!) on her throne backstage.

I joked with her that the last time I saw her play was in Los Angeles three years ago. “Whatever happened to your support act then?” I asked her. “I quite liked him, thought he may have a future…?” “That would be Ed Sheeran,” she replied. It certainly was. In fact, I remember mentioning that gig – and Ed’s brilliant turn – in this column. Taylor was looking in sensational shape for her tour, which is set to last until November and will comprise 53 nights.

She promised the biggest and best of her tours, and judging from the first night in Arizona, boy, did she deliver.

It was the most amazing spectacle, with a flying snake, video screens even longer than her legs and more hits than… well, almost anyone!

She told me she can’t wait to head to the UK with this tour which will take in seven countries and four continents.

I also got a chance to chat to her fans. Mums, daughters, sisters and... well the great thing about being a guy at a Taylor Swift concert is there’s never really a long queue for the toilets!

They really are fanatics, loads were dressed up like Taylor.

Her fans are called Swifties, which I love. Maybe instead of Reputation she could call the tour Nipping Out For A Few Swifties?

She’ll be arriving in the UK in Manchester on June 8 to do two nights at the Etihad, then she’ll be playng two nights at Wembley stadium on June 22 and 23. If you have got tickets, then you’re in for a treat.

What a great night it was – and what a performer!
