Vibrant villa truly GP’S home in Culross is a spacious stunner
WHEN
it comes to easy, stylish living, this family home in the enchanting Royal Burgh of Culross is quite literally just what the doctor ordered.
The bespoke, detached villa at 2 Veere Park – just eight miles from Dunfermline – was commissioned by Dr John Burt with his son Aedan in mind.
Dr Burt – who is also a genealogist and author – tells in10: “We commissioned the build ourselves to meet Aedan’s important needs. He had his neck broken in a road traffic collision and is paralysed from the neck down.”
The brief was to create a spacious, light and bright home with wide doors and corridors and an easy to access and maintain landscaped area outside, as well as plenty of parking for cars.
The Burts brought in NJSR Mclean of Glasgow to handle the building’s design, and landscape architects Mcgregor Mcmahon of Edinburgh and Robin Swinton of Perth. Quantity Surveyors were Doig Hart Consultants, Glasgow, with Trentham Construction as the main contractor.
And the fruits of their labour are stunning, with the creation of an uber-chic four bedroom, two sitting-room home which also features a fabulous self-contained, two bedroom apartment.
Dr Burt, 58, who moved in in 2002 says: “It took over a year to complete and we were very pleased with it. The house has lots of space and light. It features automatic doors and a passenger lift as well as well-lit, wide-open spaces and a back-up generator.” The house has an expansive hall that boasts oodles of storage space and gives access to the first stylish sitting room with a wood burning stove.
The modern fitted kitchen is also large and has a breakfast bar and space for a large dining table.
And a smart, semi-circular conservatory overlooking the front garden has access from both the sitting room and dining area.
