Head man Sommervill­e gives Cuikie a final feeling

PENICUIK will meet Tranent in the final of the DJ Laing East of Scotland Cup after a 3-1 victory over DUNDONALD BLUEBELL in the semi-final. Aaran Ponton scored the opener for Cuikie from a tight angle in 30 minutes, and the home side made sure there was no way back for the Fifers with two headed goals from Aaron Sommervill­e in 48 and 57 minutes. Bluebell responded with a headed goal from Lewis Mckenzie in 78 minutes, but Penicuik held out comfortabl­y to book their place in the final.

In the East Super League, LINLITHGOW ROSE ended their days as a junior club with an emphatic 4-0 win over bottom club FORFAR WEST END.

Blair Batchelor gave them the lead in four minutes and they upped a gear in the second half, with Gary Thom doubling their advantage in 48 minutes and Tommy Coyne and Alan Urquhart adding two more in the final 10 minutes. CARNOUSTIE PANMURE spoiled Bo’ness’ send-off from the juniors with a stoppage-time winner. Sam Simpson gave the Gowfers the lead from a penalty after 11 minutes, but Bo’ness hit back with an equaliser from Nicky Prentice in 74 minutes.

It looked like ending all square until Darren Cooper knocked in an injury-time winner for the Gowfers.

TAYPORT finished their season in style with a convincing 4-0 win at FAULDHOUSE. Dayle Robertson scored a brace for the Fifers, with Alan Tulleth and Gregor Anderson also on target. NEWTONGRAN­GE STAR and JEANFIELD SWIFTS provided a feast of goals, with the hosts coming from 3-1 down to win 4-3. HADDINGTON left it late before beating WHITBURN 2-1. Declan Quinn gave the Hi Hi the lead in 59 minutes, but then gifted Whitburn an equaliser in 79 minutes. However, Andy Jones spared their blushes with an injury-time winner.
