Tangerines set for windfall in Armstrong deal
Dundee United are set to rake in £700,000 once Celtic’s sale of Stuart Armstrong to Southampton is sealed. The Hoops have agreed a fee of £7m with the English Premier League club for the midfield ace, who is now negotiating personal terms with the Saints.
Once the Scotland star puts pen to paper, it will entitle former club Dundee United to a 10% cut of the transfer fee.
After two years in the Championship – and successive losses of over £1m – the cash will provide the Tangerines with a much-needed financial boost.

Falkirk boss Paul Hartley has snapped up Paul Paton to make the experienced midfielder his 10th summer signing. Dunfermline have been dealt a blow after it was revealed highlyrespected coach John Potter has left to join Jack Ross’ backroom team at Sunderland.
Potter, who had a fivemonth spell as manager of the Pars in 2015, was a team-mate of Ross at St Mirren. Aaron Lennox has revealed countryman Ryan Edwards sold him on a move to Partick Thistle.
The former Aberdeen and QPR goalie was a free agent after being released by Raith Rovers , and penned a one-year deal yesterday.
The Australian will now battle it out with fellow-new signing Cammy Bell for the No. 1 jersey, and said: “Ryan told me it’s absolutely fantastic.”
