Long injury list but Buckie still bang in five

-

In midweek, BUCKIE THISTLE tweeted their fans with an update on their injury list that includes the core of the titlewinning side from 2016/17.

However, they still had more than enough to overcome Inverurie-based Junior side COLONY PARK.

Declan Milne opened the scoring just after the half-hour, but the Jags upped a gear in the second half, scoring four times. Recent addition Ally Mackenzie netted, before Milne completed his hattrick with a goal either side of a Scott Adams strike for a 5-0 win. FORMARTINE UNITED travelled to EAST KILBRIDE in what both teams would be pleased to see turn into a League 2 Play-off in nine months.

The only goal of the game arrived in the 15th minute, with Sean Winter setting up Paul Woods to lift the ball over Kevin Main. INVERURIE LOCOS were 1-0 up against DUNDEE UNITED U-20s at half-time thanks to Neil Gauld’s leftfooter five minutes before the break.

However, the Tangerines terrorised the home side after the turnaround and ran out 4-1 winners.

KEITH appeared to be on easy street when they were 2-0 up against BUCKIE ROVERS at half-time thanks to goals from Selfridge and Macaskill, only to surrender the lead after the break, with the match finishing 2-2.

There was no such leniency from NAIRN COUNTY, who destroyed NEW ELGIN in scoring 11 unanswered goals.

Jordan Macrae netted early on, then, after missing a penalty nine minutes later, he hammered home his second halfway through the half and completed his hat-trick shortly before half time, with Cohen Ramsey making it 4-0 before a seven-goal second-half salvo.

Tom Maclennan scored a lovely freekick early in the second half. Max Ewan, Dylan Mackenzie, Gregg Main, Danny Highet and Adam Porritt (2) heaped further misery on the Pinefield outfit. County’s Junior neighbours NAIRN ST NINIAN were spared a similar fate at the hands of ROTHES, but still left Mackessack Park having conceded five. FRASERBURGH lost 3-0 to BROUGHTY ATHLETIC.

Two late goals helped DEVERONVALE record a 4-1 victory over DYCE, while DEVERONSIDE defeated a SHETLAND SELECT 3-2. Elsewhere, FORT WILLIAM combined their youth, first team and former players to host a memorial tournament in recognition of Colin Neilson and David Macdonald. WICK ACADEMY host a HIBERNIAN side at Harmsworth Park today (2pm KO).
