The doc replies
My husband has Crohn’s disease. Is there a special diet he should be following?
Some of my patients with Crohn’s disease have found it very useful to change their diet significantly. This generally requires specialist input, though, and the inflammatory bowel disease clinic or specialist nurse and dietician attached to the team would be the ideal place to ask. Sometimes diet can make a big difference by itself but more commonly it’s used in conjunction with medication. My 12-year-old daughter has red eyelids, and her eyelashes seem to be falling out.
Inflammation of the eyelids, also known as Blepharitis, can sometimes lead to eyelashes falling out. This condition responds well to good eyelid hygiene but it would be a good idea for your doctortotakealook. I’m 30 and in good shape. However, recently when I run or get out of breath I experience tightness in my chest.
Any time there is a discomfort in the chest involving exercise, you should go to your doctor for a review. Often it’s nothing to worry about but there can be underlying heart or lung problems. Sometimes when I go to bed I experience dizziness and nausea. What could this be?
This is often due to a condition called benign positional vertigo which typically causes the room to spin when you change position. It is simple to diagnose and also has a specific treatment, where you’re moved through a series of positions, that many doctors perform in the surgery. It helps in 80% of cases.
