Dumbarton were huffing and puffing, but struggling to create much until 69 minutes when the Montrose keeper flapped at Ross Forbes’ corner and Andy Dowie headed home at the back post.

Then, two minutes later, Michael Bolochoweckyj fouled Rory Loy in the area and Forbes scored the penalty.

Bolochoweckyj was already carrying a yellow card at the time of that offence, but was dismissed two minutes later, picking up a straight red after clashing with Ryan Thomson.

Brechin 1 raith rovers 1

Brechin – Melingui (87); Raith – Nisbet (pen 65)

Brechin started well and, early on, Jordan Sinclair’s shot took a deflection, but was saved by home goalie Kieran Wright.

In 23 minutes, Andy Jackson set up Callum Hendry but Wright again saved.

A minute later, a cross from Kalvin Orsi was claimed low down by Wright.

Seven minutes into the second half, a free-kick from Lewis Vaughan was saved by Conor Brennan.

In 58 minutes, a sweeping move by Raith ended up with Chris Duggan shooting home, but he was offside. Raith took the lead in 65 minutes when Duggan got in a header which was saved by Brennan, but, to the amazement of everyone, the referee pointed to the spot for a push and Kevin Nisbet fired home from 12 yards.

Brechin kept battling and were rewarded with an equaliser three minutes from time. Calum Tapping swung in a free-kick and Boris Melingui rose to head home.

Turner (43), Cameron (65) The Blues, looking for back-to-back home wins, were almost handed a perfect start on 12 minutes.

Isaac Layne had a clear path to goal. However, his shot lacked power.

It was a first half of few chances and the only real moment of quality led to the opening goal. Kyle Turner and Luke Donnelly exchanged passes on the edge of the box before Turner curled a low shot round Smith into the bottom left corner. Stenhousemuir turned up the heat in the early stages of the second half and forced a number of corners. But they were caught on the counter-attack, with Innes Cameron getting on the end of Turner’s long ball.
