Shy amateur baker Rahul is already melting hearts on GBBO, faster than those crazy chocolate creations melted in the sweltering tent last week. We’re only on week three and he’s bagged the Star Baker title twice, only just coming to the realisation that “I think I can actually bake!” And we learned he’s been baking to make friends since he arrived in the UK eight years ago. Bless! Despite looking like a baby deer caught in headlights, Rahul is proving to be pretty relatable.

As he panicked over a technical challenge, he lamented: “I’m not confident about anything that’s happening in my life right now.”

I feel for you, buddy! Bread Week saw veteran judge Paul Hollywood doing his usual prowling and steely, blue-eyed stare.
