Early on, Forfar’s Dale Hilson burst clear, but slid his shot wide of the post. Home goalie Marc Mccallun was lucky to escape with a booking after he rushed out of his box to rashly challenge Kevin Nisbet.

Forfar made the breakthrough after 15 minutes when John Baird’s 30-yarder hit the post and Hilson gleefully rolled the rebound home.

Raith were level in the 29th minute when Nisbet’s shot took a deflection and landed kindly for Ross Mathews to drill a low shot in off the post from 12 yards.

Three minutes later, Rovers had turned the game on its head. Hilson sclaffed a woeful pass straight to Nisbet and he neatly chipped over the Forfar keeper.

Forfar dragged themselves back into the match in the 65th minute when Dylan Easton thundered in a scorching angled strike.

With nine minutes to go, Mark Hill fired in the Loons winner when he found the bottom corner.

Calum Gallagher scored Sons’ first goal under Duffy in six minutes, cutting in to finish with a narrow angled shot.

The second goal was scored right on half-time when Dom Thomas pounced on hesitation in the Fifers’ defence and set up Bobby Barr for a simple finish.

Five minutes into the second half, it was 3-0 when by Ross Forbes played the ball across goal for Stuart Carswell to convert at the back post.

East Fife were reduced to 10 men on 68 minutes when Ross Davidson was sent off for two quick bookings.

Two minutes later, Thomas picked up the ball in midfield and strode through to roll home a shot from 25 yards.

Brechin CITY 1 Montrose 3 Montrose almost took the lead early on when Martin Rennie hit the post.

In 27 minutes, Chris Antoniazzi found space inside the box, but a great tackle from home skipper Paul Mclean saved Brechin.

Montrose continued to press and a Terry Masson free-kick was saved.

Brechin opened the scoring in 55 minutes. They were awarded a free-kick out on the right and a curling effort from Sean Burns found the net with no-one able to get a touch.

Montrose equalised in 63 minutes. Craig Johnston sent in a low cross and Rennie tapped home.

The visitors took the lead in 71 minutes when a curler from Johnston gave the keeper no chance.

In 87 minutes, Montrose substitute Graham Webster shot against the bar, but, seconds later, Webster crossed for Rennie to notch his second and wrap up the points for Montrose.

airdrieonians 0 stenhousemuir 1 With Ian Murray beginning his tenure as Airdrieonians boss, Mark Mcguigan and Alan Cook linked well down the left after 35 minutes, with Cook clipping the ball just over.

Soon after, a corner on the right by Ryan Conroy saw skipper Sean Crighton rise highest in the box then power a header for goal only to see the visiting keeper Graeme Smith leap to his right and push the ball over his crossbar. The Diamonds had the ball in the net 11 minutes from time through sub Kyle Wilkie, but a late flag disallowed his effort.

Stenhousemuir scored the winner four minutes from time when a ball into the box saw Mcguigan drive home.
