Much more to come from me, says Clare
Sean Clare believes the Hearts’ fans are finally getting a glimpse of his true ability.
The 22-year-old scored his first Premiership goal at Kilmarnock on Friday night and says there’s more to come. He reckons his upturn in form is reflected throughout the Jambos’ team and a run of five wins out of six means they’re up challenging at the top of the table.
“It has been a hard graft because I came into the team not fully fit with a foot injury,” he said. “Then I kept getting wee niggles here and there, I still do.
“I feel stronger and fitter now, though. I need to kick on though and keep getting better. “The fans are expecting big things from me, but I can take that expectation.
“I am a creative player and they expect a lot from us.
“It wasn’t quite clicking at the beginning but we have some players back now and we are playing with a lot of confidence. “Everyone is playing better, not just me. “I quite enjoy fans expecting things from me – at the top end of the pitch you have to deliver.
“You can’t just get by working hard, that is the minimum.
“Now the creative side is coming out and I am helping the team.
“I was delighted to get my first league goal because that is why the gaffer brought me here. “I am here to score goals and create them and help the club get as many points as we can.” The former Sheffield Wednesday man believes Hearts still have plenty to play for this season.
They’re now just three points behind Kilmarnock – a team involved in the title race and going for a European spot.
He went on: “We are hitting form at the right time and it is the form we need if we want to challenge at the top. “We want to get up the table, it is something the fans demand for us and we have to keep producing.
“We have dropped points when maybe we shouldn’t have, so we know we could be higher up in the league.
“That’s in the past and we have to concentrate on the next game against Livingston which will be a tough.
“It’s nice to be in the mix. We are a massive club with big expectations. “That dip in form we had, with the injuries and a lack of confidence, was tough but we knew we would get out of that.
We have had to grind out some results but we are playing with confidence again.”
