Craig Malcolm was the hero for EAST KILBRIDE as they continued their bid for the Lowland title when he headed the only goal of the game. They kept up their unbeaten run with a win away to VALE OF LEITHEN. Malcolm, the Lowland’s leading scorer now on 16, finished a fine three-man move involving Scott Stevenson and Chris Humphrey. Second-placed BSC GLASGOW got back to winning form with a 1-0 win over GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS. The only goal of the game came in the 62nd minute with Tom Orr firing in a shot which beat the Gala keeper. They should have had a second on 78 minutes when Shaun Struthers was brought down in the box by Bruce Donaldson who got a red card. But Orr’s spot-kick hit the upright. Gala also missed a penalty two minutes from time when Darren Smith blasted wide. BSC’S Mcnab was given a second yellow card in the dying seconds. EAST STIRLINGSHIRE got a 3-1 win over CUMBERNAULD COLTS, which saw all four goals come in the first halfhour. Andy Rodgers hit the opener in the 15th minute and, inside a minute, they were two up when Ross Allum found the net. Fraser Team pulled one back for Colts in the 19th minute, but, just on the half-hour, Andy Rodgers headed in the third. CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS beat EDINBURGH UNI 5-0 to move up to fourth place. Ross Guthrie got the opener after 14 minutes and, nine minutes into the second half, Matthew Mackie put through his own goal to make it 2-0. In a three-goal scoring burst in the space of 12 minutes near the end, Andrew Mair, David Churchill and debutant Kerr Allan completed the scoring.

Stuart Rome’s third stint as manager of GRETNA 2008 got off to a bad start as his side went down 4-0 to third-placed KELTY HEARTS, who were four-up at the turn. Kelty went ahead when Ritchie got on the end of a freekick to shoot home and, in 32 minutes, they got an own goal when Jack Hunter deflected the ball past his own keeper. On 41 minutes, they were 3-0 ahead when Murray Carstairs headed home from a corner and, four minutes later, he added No. 4 when a deflected free-kick fell to him and he shot home. STIRLING UNI piled the pressure on WHITEHILL WELFARE when they beat them 2-0 to keep them glued to the bottom, five points adrift of Dalbeattie Star, who were on cup duty. It took the Uni side until the 65th minute to break down the Whitehill defence, but Aiden Ferries shot home. On 74 minutes, Blair Lyons got the second to clinch the points.
