Zohore helps Bluebirds win again for Sala

-

Neil Warnock praised his Cardiff players for paying tribute to Emiliano Sala with a 2-1 win at Southampton. At the conclusion of the week in which the clubrecord signing’s body was recovered from the crashed plane that had been taking him to Cardiff, they ensured the club’s first successive top-flight victories since April 1962 with Kenneth Zohore’s dramatic goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Sol Bamba gave Cardiff a 69th-minute lead, and Southampton had pulled level just two minutes before Zahore’s last-gast winner.

Warnock said: “You can’t question the players’character because they’ve bags of heart.

“Emiliano was a fabulous lad, and it’s appropriate we came down and put in a performance like that.”

Arsenal boss Unai Emery insisted a top-four finish was a realistic target after his side’s 2-1 win at bottom club Huddersfield.

Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette struck in the first half, and despite Sead Kolasinac’s stoppage-time own goal, Arsenal secured their first away win since November.

“It was very important to win, to be closer to the top four and our target is this,” Emery said.

“After 26 games there is a one-point difference between us and Manchester United.

“If we ask is it difficult for us, I think it’s difficult, but we can. After 26 games we are on our way and our motivation is very great and we’ve brought our target closer.”

Roy Hodgson insists Crystal Palace are looking upwards rather than over their shoulders following a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Wilfried Zaha’s late equaliser, upon his return from suspension, secured a deserved point for the Eagles, who trailed to Mark Noble’s first-half penalty.

“I did think our performance, particularly in the second half, was really good and it would have been a bit of a travesty to have got nothing,” he said.

“We need to be able to play like this whoever we meet in the Premier League. That’s what we’re doing, and that gives me a lot of comfort.

“There are a lot of games to play. I can continue to hope these performances can get us into the top half of the table.”

Chris Wood scored twice to help Burnley to a 3-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ashley Barnes made it 3-0 from the spot in the 74th minute after being brought down by Mathew Ryan, just moments after the Seagulls should have been awarded a penalty at the other end when Jeff Hendrick clearly handballed in his box.

Shane Duffy pulled a goal back for Brighton with a powerful header in the 76th minute.
