Oh Timothee! Awards season is child’s play

-

seen – and participated in – a lot of fashion trends over the years. Winkle-pickers, day-glo t-shirts, jean shorts – the lot.

Who would have thought the latest fashion craze would be…a bib?

It’s awards season here in LA and the men are beginning to sport a rather odd-looking accessory.

Michael B Jordan is one of the hottest actors around at the moment, and he’s been blazing a trail around the red carpets. He wore what look like a multi-coloured harness with his suit.

I wasn’t quite sure what it was to begin with. It looked like he’d been in a wrestling match with a child’s safety harness.

The week before, Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet wore a black spangled harness to an awards show.

It’s not a safety harness. It is, according to fashion giants Louis Vuitton, who designed the piece, a bib.

Ha! Brianna makes me wear a bib every time I bring a Ruby Murray home from the Indian takeaway.

Little did I know I was making a fashion statement when I was trying to keep spiced onions off my Partick Thistle top.

I don’t know how good this new fashionable bib is at keeping food from ruining your awards show outfit, though. Imagine trying to remove it after a night on the lash? I find it difficult enough getting the key in the door, never mind trying to extract myself from what looks like the straps from a child’s car seat. Speaking of bibs, I was out for a spot of dinner with Gary Barlow and Gerry Butler last week at the BAFTA LA Burns Night at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.

Luckily for the ladies involved, big Gerry got his legs out by wearing his kilt. Unluckily for the same ladies, I did likewise.

The event couldn’t have happened without the brilliant Tom Hunter Foundation, so thanks to Sir Tom and his wife Marion.

Speaking of famous puddings, I was on the telly last week after the Super Bowl, on talent show The World’s Best.

I was one of 50 judges from around the globe on something called The Wall Of The World.

The evening was great, and I’m looking forward to the next nine episodes. I’ve not enjoyed being on a wall this much since my last visit to China.

And special thanks to the reader who wrote in and said I should be nicknamed The Humpty Numpty Who Sat On The Wall!
