Grant bags four as Turriff trounce Colony Park

-

ROTHES were top performers among the Highland League sides as they thumped COLONY PARK JUNIORS 7-3, but TURRIFF arguably matched that with an 8-0 win over COLONY PARK AMS, with Angus Grant scoring four. FORRES MECHANICS impressed in a 4-2 win over BRIDGE OF DON THISTLE, while FORT WILLIAM scored six unanswered goals against ROSYTH, Jordan Andrew and Daryl Taylor both doubling up.

Liam Taylor netted twice as STRATHSPEY THISTLE beat BANCHORY 3-0. DEVERONVALE showed a good cutting edge in a 3-3 draw with CULTER. HUNTLY lost 3-1 to DYCE. Ian Leith opened the scoring, but, soon after, Nicholas Gray was fouled in the box and scored from the resulting penalty. Adam Morrison put the hosts back in front, and Mark Bartlett prodded in No. 3. BURGHEAD THISTLE were 3-0 up against CLACHNACUDDIN in the first 15 minutes, Michael Baber, Dylan Davidson and Jamie Davidson scoring. Martin Callum pulled one back, but Baber struck his second. The Jags were reduced to 10 men when Johnny Mitchell was dismissed on 78 minutes. Clach then netted two late goals through Scott Dunn and Thomas Lewis, but still lost 4-3.

KEITH played host to a youthful ABERDEEN XI as part of the Cammy Keith testimonial season. Although the Maroons lost out by the odd goal in three, CK was on target to the home fans’ delight.

A 2-1 loss appeared contagious among SHFL clubs, and that scoreline was the same at Grant Park, where LOSSIEMOUTH hosted DEVERONSIDE. Lossie were well on top in the first half and took the lead through Ryan Stuart in 35 minutes, but, as they introduced younger players, Side used their physical advantage to good effect and netted twice from set-pieces.

That story was replicated at North Lodge Park, where ROSS COUNTY’S second string defeated FORMARTINE UNITED. Gary Mcgowan opened the scoring on 20 minutes for Paul Lawson’s men, but the Staggies replied with goals from James Wallace and Mark Gallagher.

WICK travelled to ORKNEY, but also lost 2-1. Jakub Koziol put Academy in front just before halftime, but Thorfinn Stout levelled before Ryan Williams won it for the islanders late on.

NAIRN COUNTY were able to buck the trend when they drew 1-1 with ST ANDREWS UNITED. Sub Stephen Stark and County’s Callum Maclean traded goals in the second period.

BUCKIE THISTLE won 1-0 away to CUMBERNAULD COLTS, INVERURIE LOCOS drew 0-0 with EAST STIRLINGSHIRE, and FRASERBURGH lost 2-0 to BROUGHTY ATHLETIC.
