Guest set to Steal the Show

- By Reg Moore SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

It’s been quite some time since Show Stealer contested a handicap for horses rated between zero and 85 (Class 4).

Last time, Rae Guest’s sprinter came out on top by a head over today’s Wi n d s o r t ra c k , in a contest for horses rated 0 to 100 (Class 2). Drawn nicely near the rail in Box 2, Show Stealer was dropped out in a field of 16 runners, but swooped late to scoop the £46,192.50 pot.

This t i m e R i c h a rd K i ngscote, replacing Silvestre de Sousa, will be able to lie closer to the pace with just five rivals to beat.

The five-furlong sprint will take little winning. There were clues last time that the filly, Glamorous Rocket, could be ready.

Last summer, when with Ron Harris, the four- year- old won four times and ran three seconds, her rating going from 55 to 79.

She has dropped down to 68 for today’s dash and ran better last time than the placing suggests, weakening in the last 100 yards.

Spirit Wa r n i n g has been a model of consistency for Andrew Balding, being out of the first three just once in nine races this year. The trip may have been on the short side last time. But, previously, he was three- quartersof- a- length second in a hotter heat than today’s.
