Raith never troubled as Bully Wee cave in

-

Raith made it two wins out of two in League 1 with a convincing win over the Bully Wee.

Ryan Hendry fired Raith in front from a penalty after Kieran Duffy had tripped Kieron Bowie in the area.

Bowie doubled Raith’s lead midway through the first half when he was allowed time to turn at the edge of the area and find the bottom corner.

The goalscorer had to go off soon after due to injury, replaced by Joao Vitoria.

Grant Anderson added the third just after the break from four yards.

Sub Vitoria netted No. 4 with a left-foot finish after good work from Brad Spencer.

Goodwillie pulled a goal back, but, within a minute, Jack Smith made it 5-1 to underline Raith’s superiority.

Ally Love managed a second for Clyde with a left-foot shot in the final minute.

Falkirk

Sammon (7, 53), Mcmanus (11, 34), Telfer (38), Buchanan (42)

Falkirk’s summer signing Conor Sammon used his strength to open the scoring after just seven minutes, before Declan Mcmanus rounded off a fine five-man move to make it 2-0.

Mcmanus tapped home Sammon’s cross for 3-0, and Charlie Telfer finished calmly as the home side cut loose.

The Sons missed a clear opportunity to cut the deficit when Joe Mckee’s penalty was saved by Cammy Bell’s legs. Gregor Buchanan and Sammon again added further strikes either side of halftime as Dumbarton crashed to a fifth straight defeat, conceding 19 goals in those games.

In a goalless first half, Stranraer’s James Hilton passed up a good chance in the 16th minute when he volleyed high over the bar from inside the box.

Forfar’s Dale Hilson couldn’t believe his luck when Adam Cummins threw himself in the line of a goal-bound shot.

In monsoon-like conditions, the breakthrough finally came in the 75th-minute – but it took a penalty award to see Forfar ahead.

Hilson fired in a shot from 18 yards that was spilled by Max Currie. The keeper attempted to pounce on the loose ball, but succeeded only in hauling down Andy Jackson. Hilson blasted his penalty straight down the middle.

east Fife

Peterhead

East Fife – Wallace (45); Peterhead – Lyle (35)

Peterhead started positively and came close to taking the lead with just seven minutes gone. A hopeful ball into the sixyard box created a goalmouth scramble, but the hosts managed to clear.

East Fife’s Aaron Dunsmore then should have done better when he was played in on goal by Ryan Wallace. With the goal at his mercy, the midfielder shot tamely towards Greg Fleming.

The Fifers were then inches away from breaking the deadlock when Scott Agnew’s free-kick drifted over.

The visitors managed to work their way back into the game and took the lead 10 minutes from the break when Derek Lyle netted from six yards.

The hosts managed to haul themselves level on the stroke of half-time, Ryan Wallace on hand to finish off Liam Watt’s headed knockback.

The Fifers should have taken the lead within a couple of minutes of the restart, but Dunsmore rushed his effort and Fleming was able to get a good hand to it.

East Fife had other chances as Wallace caused plenty of problems for the visitors, with Agnew also a threat.

Montrose

Smith (71)

airdrieonians

Montrose carved out the first real chance on 20 minutes when Josh Skelly cut in from the right and his shot was kept out by the boot of David Hutton. Montrose continued to press and Lewis Milne shot over, then Skelly shot against the keeper from a Milne pass.

In 40 minutes, a shot on the turn from Calum Fordyce forced a great save from home keeper Allan Fleming.

On the stroke of half-time, Montrose were reduced to 10 men as Sean Dillon tangled with Calum Smith and the referee pointed to the spot before redcarding Dillon. Alistair Roy then stepped up to blaze the spot-kick over the bar.

Airdrie had most of the second-half pressure, but 10-man Montrose had a chance when a drive from Cammy Ballantyne forced a save from Hutton. The deadlock was broken in 71 minutes when Smith scored with a shot which took a deflection. Montrose were out of luck two minutes later when a free-kick from Milne crashed off the bar, then Milne saw his free-kick tipped for a corner by the alert Hutton.
