My daughter is pregnant but experiences bad morning sickness. Why does this happen?

We’re not entirely sure. It’s likely to do with the huge amount of changes in hormones the body goes through.

What we can say though, is that morning sickness is more likely if you’re already prone to a bit of nausea – such as motion or travel sickness – and also if you’re expecting twins.

Mostly it happens in the morning, although it can also strike at any time of the day. Generally it’s unpleasant, but nothing to worry about, as the baby isn’t affected.

For those women who are troubled by morning sickness, it’s worth trying this tip – eating a biscuit as soon as they wake in the morning.

Not a luxury chocolate caramel number – a plain biscuit, like a rich tea. Some women find ginger helps with nausea, so perhaps a ginger snap could stave off morning sickness before it happens. Generally, eating small amounts and often is a good idea – eating too much or not at all can make things worse. My grandson is quite idle for a nine-year-old and doesn’t like getting out or playing sports. How do I convince him to do some exercise?

If you could answer this question it would solve one of the fundamental ills of modern society.

Are you a fan of American police shows? You might want to try Good Cop/bad Cop routines.

Good Cop techniques include going for nature walks together or sporting activity together and Bad Cop techniques mean switching off televisions and screens. Good luck!

I often experience anxiety in the morning when my husband leaves for work. It can often result in me feeling very upset. What can I do to stop it?

A counsellor might be able to uncover some deep-seated anxiety surrounding fear of separation, however, there are some practical steps that you could consider, such as having a set routine where you go out and do something around the same time. Some form of physical activity might be particularly useful.
