Case Study

Thomas and Joyce Roche, Glasgow

-

One call to ILAWS changed the Roche’s lives as they now have three essential legal documents drawn up giving the couple peace of mind about their financial future.

Retired Thomas initially called ILAWS to arrange a Will and Power of Attorney, but after talking through the legalities of leaving property to family with ILAWS, the Glasgow couple decided to begin the process of setting up a property protection trust, too.

The dad of two said: “We made new Wills and instigated a trust so that our property can be passed on to our children and won’t be used to fund care costs.

“If we did not have this trust set up, the council could make us sell the house to pay for care home fees if one of us went into care – I am not working all my days for someone else to sell my house.

“Whatever happens, I know that what I have worked hard for all my life will be bequeathed to whomever I wish, and not taken away.”

The 65-year-old and his wife, Joyce, who have two grown-up sons, are now relaxed about the future as they no longer need to worry about the “what ifs”. Their home is protected, and they have their Wills and Power of Attorneys in place.

Thomas added: “I have peace of mind as everything is in place now and the cost we paid is negligible when you consider what you could lose in the long term. In fact, ILAWS’ costs are far more reasonable than going elsewhere. “You need a Will, a Power of Attorney and a trust.

“My advice would be: go and get it done. Finances can be a big thing to talk about but I found ILAWS very professional to deal with and definitely someone you can trust.”

We’ve worked hard all our lives...now we can relax and enjoy retirement
