SONIANS BATTLE BACK TO SHOCK KNIGHTS

-

SOUTHERN KNIGHTS 13 WATSONIANS 14

Sonians produced a stunning fightback to deliver a Super6 shock to the Knights in a Greenyards thriller.

The hosts had appeared to be on course for glory as they claimed a 13-0 lead.

But the Myreside men stepped up the pace and power when it mattered to snatch the points.

Struan Hutchison’s two penalties gave the Knights the edge at the break before he goaled Michael Mvalase-julyan’s try.

Then came the Watson’s revival as they created decisive scores for Joe Reynolds and Lee Millar, whose conversions were crucial.

In the Premiership, Currie boosted their title quest with a hard-fought 23-13 victory over Jed-forest at Riverside Park.

Two early penalties had given the hosts the edge, but the visitors hit back with a try by Roy Vucago.

Gregor Hunter’s strike put Currie in front before Cammy Meager pounced for their second touchdown.

Hunter found the target again – and they surged further ahead with a penalty try.

Jed clawed back a score, but it was too late to make any real difference.

Marr also kept up their

nmomentum, but only after they narrowly staved off a shock defeat at Balgray. Struggling Glasgow Hawks had ruled the first half with tries by Murray Godsman and Erland Oag.

And Marr were forced to dig deep to bring out their 18-17 success.

There was a surprise in the Granite City, where Hawick pulled off a 31-14 triumph over Aberdeen GR.

Elsewhere, there were close encounters at Musselburgh and Selkirk.

Burgh got the better of GHA 39-35 and Edinburgh Accies powered to a 26-24 win in the Borders.
