Seven different scorers in Brora romp

-

BRORA RANGERS 7 BUCKIE THISTLE 0

This top-of-the-table battle was dominated by Brora, who took their customary 3-0 lead into the half-time break.

Jordan Macrae opened the scoring from a penalty, delivering the ball to the postage stamp corner after he had been fouled in the area.

Ally Macdonald coolly lobbed in a second from a fine Andy Macrae pick-out.

A thumping Gavin Morrison free-kick put the Cattachs 3-0 up and there was no let-up in the second half. Colin Williamson headed home a fourth counter for the hosts.

Andy Macrae then almost broke the roof of the net when scoring his goal.

Tom Kelly’s low shot was the prelude to player-manager Steven Mackay becoming the seventh Rangers scorer as they defeated The Hoops.

INVERURIE LOCOS 4 CLACHNACUDDIN 1

With Brora and Buckie facing off, Locos knew a win over Clach could put them top of the league.

They got off to a perfect start with an early goal from Greg Mitchell, heading home Neil Mclean’s corner. Midweek hero Jonny Smith left-footed the vital second goal a minute after the break.

Ryan Stott replicated that goal two minutes later and Locos were to the four when Callum Dingwall followed in to net on the rebound.

Martin Callum’s deflected effort provided Clach with a consolation.

Brora’s win, though, meant Locos stay in second spot on goal difference.

DEVERONVALE 0 FRASERBURGH 3

An early opportunity fell the way of the ever-dangerous Scott Barbour, but Kyle Willox did well to block the visiting striker’s effort.

Colin Charlesworth sent a ball into the box trying to find Robert Scott, who was at the back post, but Bryan Hay cleared the danger.

Sean Butcher thought he had opened the scoring after 38 minutes for the visitors, but the goal was chalked off for a foul.

It was only delayed two minutes, however, as Grant Campbell, unmarked at the back post, headed home following a Paul Young corner.

Seven minutes into the second half, Butcher made it two with a fine 20-yard strike which allowed The Broch to control the second half and they made it three a minute from time as substitute Ross Willox headed home following another corner from Butcher.

LOSSIEMOUTH 0 NAIRN COUNTY 0

With Nairn licking their wounds following a midweek loss to

Forres, the Coasters set up to make it difficult for the team from the top half of the table.

Only an incredible Stewart Black save kept the scores level at the break, the big keeper sticking out a leg to divert the ball over the bar when a goal seemed inevitable.

At the other end, a bobbly passback nearly evaded Brora loanee Will Counsel and almost gifted Lossie a win.

KEITH 2 WICK ACADEMY 2

A goalless first half was the prelude to an action packed second.

Michael Selfridge opened the scoring six minutes after the turnaround, and the Maroons looked to have the points in the bag when Craig Macaskill added a second just after the hour.

Wick were handed a lifeline from a penalty, Gary Manson converting.

Ross Allan saw red in time-added, but the 10 men grabbed a dramatic draw thanks to Jack Henry.

FORRES 5 HUNTLY 1

Forres came really flying out of the traps, going four up in the first half.

Declan Hughes headed home an Allan Macphee cross in the seventh minute, then slotted home a rebound six minutes later.

Robbie Duncanson slammed a third into the top corner with just 15 minutes gone.

Macphee collected a Stuart Soane pass, cut in and scored at the near post to complete a fine first 45 minutes

Jordan Milne headed a Simon Allan corner past John Farquhar, but Declan Milne pulled one back for Huntly from the spot.

Lee Fraser iced the cake with a turn and shot to restore the fivegoal advantage.
