HIGHLAND AND lowland leagues

In the Highland League, BRORA RANGERS gained revenge on NAIRN for the early-season loss at Station Park by blitzing their visitors 5-0. Martin Maclean hit the opening goal, then recent signing Andrew Macrae scored a quickfire double. Late on, Greg Morrison and a Fraser Dingwall own goal enhanced the victory. LOSSIEMOURTH lost heavily, going down 7-1 to hosts INVERURIE LOCO WORKS, who had Greg Mitchell sent off for a wild challenge. Neil Gauld hit a hat-trick and there were singles from Neil Mclean, Andy Hunter, Chris Angus and Eric Watson. Fraser Forbes scored for Lossie.

BUCKIE THISTLE cruised to a 4-0 home victory over a WICK team who looked to have overindulged in the festivities. Joe Mccabe volleyed the Jags ahead and Sam Urquhart doubled their lead from the penalty spot. Jack Murray hammering No. 3 high into the net, then almost turned from saint to sinner when he gave away a penalty, but Lee Herbert provided redemption, saving Richard Macadie’s spot-kick. Kevin Fraser completed the rout. STRATHSPEY THISTLE bounced back from last week’s shock defeat to claim the scalp of FORRES MECHANICS 2-1. Stuart Soane gave Forres a half-time lead, lobbing home after the keeper and a defender collided. James Fraser levelled and, having seen the Mechanics miss a hatful of chances, Fraser was on hand to punish them with a left-footed finish.

ROTHES took an early lead against HUNTLY when an Allan Pollock corner was punched out as far as Aidan Wilson who powered home from the edge of the box. Against the run of play, the Speysiders sealed the 2-0 win as Steven Anderson curled the ball in for Allan Pollock to volley home. TURRIFF UNITED and visiting KEITH shared six goals and the points. Cammy Keith netted his 251st goal for the Maroons in the 21st minute, then Gregor Macdonald made it 2-0 soon after with a perfectly-executed header.

Robert Ward dragged Turriff back into the game, his first in a crowded area was followed by a fine strike from the edge of the box. Keith put Keith back in front, only for Angus Grant to earn Turriff a deserved point.
