With Downey Jr starring in a new Dolittle film, 2020 will be a real hoot in Tinsel Town

-

Not long until the bells here, although Scottish Hogmanay is a bit lost on Hollywood.

I told someone “lang may yer lum reek” and nearly got arrested!

I’m thinking of introducing a new fad diet just before the bells – it’s based around shortbread and whisky and is called the 5:2 midnight diet. Thoughts are turning ahead to the New Year and 2020 is going to be a fantastic one here in Tinsel Town. Robert Downey Jr’s Dolittle movie is arriving early next month.

I’ve got a condition where I believe I can talk to animals. Apparently it’s called Dolittle Syndrome. How do I know that? Let’s just say a little bird told me. The lovely Margot Robbie is back as Harley Quinn in February – she’s in Birds of Prey, which is a superhero movie and not a sequel to Kes.

Production was a little troubled on the movie –

I heard they asked Owl Woman to take part but she didn’t give a hoot, while Cockerel Man was just too chicken.

It’ll probably be Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007 before he goes to 00-Heaven when No Time To Die came out. Never mind a licence to kill – will Bond have a passport to get into Europe following Brexit?

One of the most long-awaited sequels of all time finally arrives next year.

Top Gun: Maverick sees Tom Cruise feel the need for speed more than 30 years on from the original.

Good on Tom for making an action sequel at the age of 57. The only thing most people of that age worry about when they get on a plane is whether they’ve remembered their DVT socks and a packet of boiled sweeties. Christopher Nolan is probably the most respected director working in Hollywood right now and he’s following up Second World War epic Dunkirk with a new action movie.

It’s called Tenet and looks to be in the same vein as the brilliant Inception.

I loved that film but it was supposed to be based on invading a dream world.

It was massively unrealistic because at no point did they break into someone’s dream to find them at school without any trousers on.

After his success in doing the stunning Blade Runner sequel two years ago, acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve is tackling another sci-fi classic with a fresh adaptation of Dune, based on Frank Herbert’s epic novel of the same name.

Timothée Chalamet stars as the lead character Paul Atreides, the young nobleman who fights for the most valuable commodity known to man.

I guess they’ll already be thinking about a sequel to Dune, but will it be called…duly? Join me next week when

I’ll be looking forward to the forthcoming awards season and picking my favourites.

Get your bookies’ pens at the ready!

Happy New Year!
