Inverurie Locos blew the chance to close to within three points of the league leaders and might have ended the day pointless had Huntly not missed one of two spot-kicks.

Andy Low’s side took the lead when a long throw-in by Neil Mclean worked its way though to Chris Angus, who nodded home.

Huntly should have levelled on 39 minutes, but Declan Milne’s lacklustre penalty was saved by Andy Reid.

When Jamie Michie fouled Glenn Murison in the area for a second time in the 82nd minute, sub Kai Ross took responsibility and duly sent the keeper the wrong way.

Buckie were a goal to the good at the break thanks to a left-foot eight-yard rocket shot by Ross County loanee Jack Murray after a corner.

Clach hit back with a fine solo effort by Thomas Lewis when a long ball was flicked on and he ran in from 30 yards to slot past Dan Bell.

As time began to run out, Kyle Macleod earned a penalty for the home side, and Sam Urquhart put his former side to the sword.

The Fort William team bus was delayed by a road accident en route, disrupting the preparation for Calum Mclean’s first game back as team manager.

Despite this, Roddy Kennedy cracked a left-footed effort in off the underside of the bar on five minutes.

Formartine quickly levelled, Graham Rodger finishing off a fine move involving Johnny Crawford and Garry Wood.

Aaron Norris put the home side ahead, then drilled home a second.

Rodger sidefooted home his second before completing a treble with a long-range shot.

Ross Gunn fired Fort’s second into the roof of the net late on.

The visitors got off to the perfect start with a goal inside the first six minutes, Jack Halliday running in to shoot home from six yards.

They had to wait until the second half for Jack Henry to fire home a second.

Grant Aitkenhead grabbed his first for the Scorries as he bundled it home after Gordy Macnab’s shot was palmed on to the frame of the goal.

Turriff almost mustered a late fightback, Cammy Bowden netting a consolation that appeared to gain significance when Murray Easton scored his first for Turriff.

Scott Dunn should have fired Vale ahead after 19 minutes, but the deadlock was broken on 27 minutes when Colin Charlesworth picked out Ryan Sargent to net with a close-range header.

Rothes levelled three minutes from the break as Glenn Main curled home a 20-yard free-kick, and the visitors went ahead two minutes later as Michael Dunn failed to clear and Aiden Wilson ran in to score from 16 yards.

Steven Anderson hit the woodwork on 55 minutes for Rothes, but it was one of few chances created by both teams in a poor second period punctuated with slack and misplaced passes.

Scott Dunn did get a header on target with a couple of minutes remaining, which Ewen Macdonald comfortably saved.

Nairn got their noses in front halfway through the first period when Fraser Dingwall attacked a corner to head home.

After Strathspey passed up some good chances to level, Nairn gave themselves breathing space with just over 20 minutes to go when Scott Davidson fired a perfectly-flighted free-kick beyond Michael Maccallum. The Jags ended with 10 men after Martin Duncan saw red. Work continues to repair facilities at Grant Street following the fire on Christmas Eve.

However, it will not be completed in time to host the scheduled Breedon Highland League match between Clachnacuddin and Fort William on Saturday.

The match will now take place on Friday at Canal Park Astro, Inverness (KO 7.45pm).
