It’s hammer time come the curfew

It’s not all doom and gloom. The dark cloud of coronavirus may have a very, very small silver lining.

Now we’re all washing our hands, there will be a drop in numbers suffering from the common flu virus. As well as improved personal hygiene!

All those heated arguments about Brexit – and all the other big issues that mattered so much a few weeks ago – will be forgotten as the world concentrates on far more important matters.

Obesity levels should drop, as stores close, supplies run thin and rationing is introduced. Sales of home brew alcohol kits will boom. And home deliveries from DIY stores will go through the roof, as we finally get round to doing those important jobs around the house. Which as I have pointed out to my sceptical wife, only lead to more pressure on our struggling A&E departments as inept husbands nail their thumbs to squinty shelves.
