Having spent months filming in India together, you would forgive the Thomas family for wanting a little time apart. But the three are desperate to reunite following their dream trip to the subcontinent. Recently, former Coronation Street star Ryan became a dad to baby Roman. His brothers Adam (Waterloo Road and Emmerdale) and Scott (Love Island) haven’t met their new nephew because of social-distancing rules.

“The first thing I want to do with my family is introduce my brothers to my little boy. That’s top of my list when we come out of isolation,” said Ryan.

“Just being around loved ones and family showing off my little newborn son to everyone who hasn’t met him, it’s something we’re all excited for.”

The trio star in Absolutely India: Mancs In Mumbai, in which the family go to their grandfather’s country of origin. It was, according to Ryan, a chance to connect with their roots.

“We thought this was a trip of a lifetime.to have the chance to take our father back to his father’s birthplace was quite an experience and we had a mixed bag of emotions throughout the whole trip,” he said.

“It was exciting, emotional and an amazing experience for all of us.

“I think the series is relatable. It shows a family heading to this beautiful, chaotic and vibrant place to find out about their family.

“Along the way, as well as showing off this beautiful country, it explores our relationships as brothers and as father and sons. It was an amazing experience.”

One memorable moment involved a spiritual awakening, an incredible view – and a lot of spice.

“One of my favourite moments was going to the temple where they celebrate the god of family,” said Ryan.“it was particularly special as it best sums up the whole show.

“It was phenomenal to be at the top of this amazing temple overlooking the whole of India while having the chance to reflect on the whole trip, covered head to toe in turmeric, alongside thousands of other people, and sharing this with some of the most important people in my life.”

Being able to connect with his dad was an unexpected benefit of filming the series – and has reminded Ryan of the importance of family during a time like this.

“To take our dad on this trip was important because time is precious and I think, for him especially, it’s important to spend quality time with his sons,” he added.

“Where we go next, I don’t know. It’s the small things in life right now and a walk in the park would be satisfying enough!

“I think when everything changes and you aren’t able to be with your family or friends or just do the simple things that you took for granted you realise how important they are.” Absolutely India: Mancs In Mumbai, Wednesday, 8pm
