The comedian and actor spotted Britt in a newspaper in 1964 and tracked her down to ask her out.

But their whirlwind romance turned into a nightmare, as 21-year-old Britt moved in with the man 16 years her senior.

“It was very, very scary,” she later said. “I think now that he had manic depression. He was a funny man but it not funny to live with.”

Ekland said the actor and ladies’ man tried to seduce her in 1970 in an unconventional way – he took her to a pornographic film.

“I was truly shocked as I was brought up practically as a Victorian person. I am a prudish person. I wanted to get out and I left,” she said.

However it didn’t sour her completely on Beatty, who she said was “the most divine lover of all. His libido was as lethal as high-octane gas”.

Britt gave up her career to be with Rod – after they were introduced by Joan Collins. He nicknamed her Sex Kitchen, and she went on tour with him, ironing his clothes, doing his hair – and even lending him her underwear for his performances.

Britt’s ex, George Hamilton, revealed Rod had been having an affair with George’s girlfriend at the time, resulting in a bitter split.

In 1984, Britt married Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom, who was 19 years younger, aged 23. While the age gap never bothered her, the marriage petered out.

“It broke my heart to break his heart, but nothing dramatic happened,” she said. “It just stopped. It happens like that sometimes. It’s sad.”
