Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos and Celtic skipper Scott Brown clash in the last Old Firm encounter

Partick Thistle chairman Jacqui Low has warned clubs not to settle old scores when they vote on league reconstruction.

Scotland’s 42 senior sides have been asked to indicate by 10am tomorrow whether or not they support changing to a permanent structure of 14-10-10-10 next season.

This is the latest attempt to find a formula that would prevent Hearts, Thistle and Stranraer from being relegated.

It would also see Brora Rangers of the Highland League and Kelty Hearts from the Lowland League enter League Two.

If there is enough support for the proposal, it will be formally voted on at an EGM within seven days.

That, however, currently appears unlikely, and Low made a direct appeal to clubs not to cast their vote for the wrong reason.

She said: “Don’t use your vote to settle old scores.

“Don’t reinforce rivalries between clubs just to keep fans happy.

“Don’t turn a blind eye because it doesn’t impact on you – this time.

“Recognise there will be farreaching consequences of your actions for Thistle and everyone associated with the club.

“If that doesn’t matter to you, then focus on doing the right thing for Scottish football.

“If this vote collapses because people cannot set aside self-interest and ego, our game potentially faces irreparable damage and ongoing division for many years to come. “At a time unparalleled in footballing history, countries throughout Europe have re-jigged their league set-ups to protect the whole – we have the opportunity to do the same.”

Change requires backing from 11 of the 12 Premiership clubs, as well as 17 or more clubs from the Premiership and Championship combined.

Things will only progress if 32 or more SPFL clubs overall vote yes. Low went on: “Despite being relegated in an arbitrary fashion – with a game in hand and only two points behind our nearest rivals – we stand ready, willing and able to play, including behind closed doors. “But we still don’t know when
