I love watching 8 Out Of 10 Cats and have just discovered that the phrase comes from an old cat food ad – why isn’t such a good slogan still being used? – E.

The “8 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas” campaign began in the ’80s. After a complaint to the Advertisin­g Standards Authority, it was changed to “8 out of 10 owners who expressed a preference said their cat prefers it”. Whiskas dropped the slogan soon after.

With statues being in the news quite a bit this week, I’ve been wondering which is the tallest in the world? – J. That would be The Statue Of Unity, which stands 182m (597ft) tall, on a 58m (190ft) base, giving the monument a total height of 240m (797ft).

It depicts statesman and independen­ce activist Sardar Vallabhbha­i Patel (1875–1950) and stands in India’s Gujarat state. Patel played a major part in uniting the 562 princely states of India and part of the British Raj to form the Union of India and he was the country’s first deputy prime minister. The statue, completed in 2018, took just over four years to construct.

Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States, is the second youngest of five children, Maryanne, Fred, Elizabeth, Donald and Robert. Maryanne was a was a senior federal judge, but stepped down when her brother took office. Fred died in 1981, Elizabeth was a banker and Robert is a businessma­n.
