£4m DIY power plan
A pioneering scheme to allow a Scottish community to make and sell its own electricity has been given the green light.
The £4 million Electric Valley project will see a charity borrow money to buy a wind turbine and install it in North Ayrshire’s Garnock Valley.
Project leader Allan Wilson, a former Scottish Government minister, said: “This is a shovel-ready project which we believe would transform the fortunes of the Garnock valley.”
