Spurs tipped to sign winger Fraser

-

Tottenham have been made the new favourites to sign Ryan Fraser by one of England’s leading bookmakers.

Betvictor chopped the odds on the Scotland winger signing for Jose Mourinho from 2/1 to 5/4 at the end of last week. That despite the fact he is available at 8/1 elsewhere.

Celtic had previously been top of Paddy Power’s prices, but claims suggesting the 26-year-old is looking for a weekly wage of £100,000-plus saw the Hoops pushed way out in the betting.

Everton – 6/4 with Betvictor and 7/4 favourites with Paddy Power – are still viewed as his most-likely destination by those in the game. ■ Former Motherwell goalkeeper Mark Gillespie has heaped praise on the Fir Park club for helping him return to Newcastle.

The 28-year-old started his career at the Magpies academy but left the club as a teenager. He is now back at St James’ Park on a three-year contract.

Gillespie played for Carlisle and Walsall before moving to Scotland in 2018.

He said: “I had two fantastic years at Motherwell, I can’t speak highly enough about the club. We had a third-place finish last season and I definitely played my best football over the last 18 months.”
