Broch shock for the Bluetoon comes at a cost

-

Peterhead manager Jim Mcinally had no complaints after a make- shift Blue Toon side went down 2- 0 at home to Highland League neighbours, Fraserburgh.

The Broch hit the front early when Scott Barbour swept home a Paul Campbell cross, and they were well worth their halftime advantage.

Peterhead summer signing, Isaac Layne, went close to equalising soon after the break, only to be denied by a post.

However, Fraserburgh secured the win late on when Ryan Sargent slipped the ball home with just two minutes left.

Mcinally said: “I have no complaints about the final result.

“Fraserburgh were better than us in the first half, and while we were better second half, we could not get anything from the game.

“The opposition deserve a lot of credit for how they played as they pressed us hard, and we could not find a way to deal with that, especially early on.

“Simon Ferry has picked up a slight knock and the trialist, Hasim Bakar, may have broken a shoulder after what was a poor challenge on him.”

At Links Park, Montrose and Dundee served up an entertaining 90 minutes by sharing four goals.

The visitors went ahead early in each half, but defensive lapses allowed their hosts to notch an equaliser each time.

Graham Dorrans gave the Dark Blues an early lead from the penalty spot, only for Craig Johnston to restore parity by forcing home a scrappy equaliser.

Lee Ashcroft put the Dark Blues ahead at the start of the second half, but ex- Dee man, Graham Webster, equalised near the end.

Partick Thistle continued their build up to their assault on League One with a comfortable 3- 0 win over BSC Glasgow at Firhill.

Stuart Bannigan, recent signing from Queen of the South, Connor Murray, and Brian Graham got the goals.

Afterwards, Jags manager Ian Mccall admitted he was satisfied with the performance but believed the win could have been even more convincing.

“3-0 is OK,” he said, “but we should have scored seven or eight.”
