In the Bundesliga, Dani Olmo’s solitary strike with 14 minutes remaining at the Mercedes-benz Stadium was enough to propel RB LEIPZIG one point clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Hosts VFB STUTTGART kept things tight for most of the game, but eventually succumbed to the pressure. BAYER LEVERKUSEN slipped to third place after going down 2-1 at EINTRACHT FRANKFURT. It all started well for Leverkusen at the Deutsche Bank Park (Waldstadion) as they took the lead after just nine minutes through Nadiem Amri. However, by 22 minutes, it was all square thanks to Amin Younes’ leveller.

The home side’s winner was a disaster for visiting defender Edmon Tapsoba, who turned the ball into his own net on 54 minutes.

In La Liga, VILLARREAL held on to their fourth spot in the league after a hardfought 2-1 win over visitors LEVANTE at the Estadio de la Ceramica. They seemed to be in control of the game after Fernando Nino (pictured) opened for them in 19 minutes, and Gerard Moreno made it 2-0 nine minutes after the break. However, Sergio Leon’s 73rd-minute goal made for a jittery finish to the game, but they held out for the three points.

At the Jose Alvalade Stadium, SPORTING LISBON extended their lead at the top of Portugal’s Primeira Liga to four points with a 2-0 home victory over fourth-placed SPORTING BRAGA.

Both goals came in the second half.

Pedro Gonclaves put the hosts in front nine minutes after the interval, with Matheus Nunes securing the full dividend with his 78th-minute counter.
